We are missing you! We were preparing ourselves for a year full of surprises and news. However, we were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and had to suddenly reinvent ourselves! It is with great honour and enthusiasm that we publish our first Newsletter edition of 2020. A lot of planning, CONSTRUCTION, and hard work has been done to prepare for a successful academic year.

We are eager to return to normality and to hear about your experiences during this period when we have been physically apart, and together make this unsettled year into a fabulous school year!

I would also like to introduce our pedagogical team: Hayley Waghorn,  Primary Years Programme (PYP) from International Baccalaureate (IB) coordinator, which comprises Early Childhood Education and the Elementary School (until Grade 5); Mikke Marttinen, responsible for the Middle Years Programme (MYP) from IB, which comprises of the Middle School (today: Grade 6, 7 and 8) and Márcia Antunes, our guidance counselor.

In addition, I would like to offer my sincere gratitude to the entire team. Faced with this unique moment in our lives, we have reinvented ourselves in a distance learning model, of which we are very proud. Everyone has been working tirelessly preparing materials, creating remote student-centred classrooms, and reviewing each action weekly.

I would also like to thank, from the bottom of my heart, the partnership of the families, which has helped us to build a positive learning environment for our students.

As excited as I am to give you this newsletter, it is the face-to-face interaction that we value most, but for health reasons, we are unable to offer that at the moment. Knowing that even at a distance we can keep our policy of open doors and welcome any opportunity to meet (remotely) with you. We look forward to seeing you soon, in a safe and welcoming environment, in addition to a challenging, meaningful, and diverse curriculum.

Kind regards,

Anderson Vidal, Principal
